Actress Isabel Lucas has been voted to be Australia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity for PETA in 2010.
Lucas went on a vegetarian diet after watching a documentary, Earthlings, at Anthony Kiedis’s home, the singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
After watching the documentary, she was immediately transformed into a vegan and says that she doesn’t feel limited by her new vegetarian diet.
“I eat lots of veggies and pasta and nuts, tofu and soups,” said Melbourne born Lucas.
“It works well for my body, and I also feel more in tune,” she added.
The PETA poll had put Lucas ahead of model and actress Imogen Bailey, TV and radio personality Ruby Rose, singer-songwriter Missy Higgins, model Myf Shepherd, Australian Idol host Andrew G, surfing sensation Dave Rastovich and folk singer Xavier Rudd.

MTV isn’t exactly the home of highbrow television with shows like “The Hills” and “Jersey Shore.” They are trying something different on March 14th by airing a new documentary about the clean water crisis called “Summit on the Summit: Kilimanjaro.” The ninety minute show focuses on a ragtag group of scientists, educators, and celebrities like Jessica Biel and Santigold who dared to climb the mountain to publicize the cause.
It’s easy to take clean water for granted because it’s all around us from bottled water to the nearest tap. Imagine a world where your water supply was also where the local cows defecated or your government had no laws that prevented water pollution. That’s the reality for over one billion people in the world and the cause of 80% of the world’s illnesses.
Born in Ethiopia and raised in the US, music producer and singer Kenna was unaware of the clean water crisis until he had a chat with his father. He wanted to know why he spent years saving up $10,000 to help build a well back home.
Kenna’s father told him the dark history his family experienced because of the quality of water back in Ethiopia. The effects of waterborne illness hit his father well into his teens and it killed many of his friends and even Kenna’s uncle.
Shocked at the facts he decided that he had to do something to attract attention to the issue. Some would have planned a telethon or a fundraising party but he wanted conquer Africa’s highest peak with a little help from his friends.
Kenna said, “I wanted people who got to see this climb to see themselves. I wanted to make sure we had Bernice Ang from Singapore and Lupe Fiasco from the South side of Chicago and Jessica Biel from treehugger Colorado. That’s the only way I felt like we would have a real summit, a real conversation.”
Earlier this year the climb raised funds for a number of programs including Water for People’s PlayPumps technology, P&G’s Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.
During the Sunday’s premiere, viewers will be able to text SEND to 90999 to donate ten dollars to the UN Foundation in the name of “Summit on the Summit.” That small amount will provide one thousand liters of clean water to those who need it most.
“Summit on the Summit: Kilimanjaro” is a great move by MTV to help their audience realize that there is a world outside of Speidi, Snooki, or any dance crew. Let’s hope that MTV will continue to highlight the real world that doesn’t involve seven strangers that are picked to live in a house.

Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Isabel Lucas trudged through a blizzard Monday on the fifth day of their hike with other entertainers and activists up 19,340-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro.
“It’s pretty gnarly,” Elizabeth Gore, an executive with the United Nations Foundation, and one of the participants of the trek to raise awareness of global water issues, tells PEOPLE by satellite phone. “The visibility is only 10 feet in front of you. And it’s cold. I’ve got six layers on.”
With just a day left of climbing before hitting the summit of the Tanzanian mountain, the group reached 16,000 feet, causing many to experience headaches and stomach problems due to the high altitude.
We’re on the hardest route at the fastest pace, but no one has turned back,” she says. “It’s pretty kick ass that all of the climbers have made it all the way. We’re all trying to help each other get to the top.”
To keep spirits high during the down time, Biel has taught the climbers a game called Mafia, in which participants draw a picture of a character on a piece of paper, then ask other players to guess the identity.
“Jess is doing awesome,” says Gore. “She continues to bring levity yet seriousness at the same time. … We’ve played every game you can imagine – travel Scrabble, word games. And there is a lot of free-style rapping going on.”
One of the biggest challenges for the group, which includes photographer Michael Muller, and Alexandra Cousteau, granddaughter of ocean explorer, Jacques Cousteau, is getting enough sleep due to the altitude. Ethiopian-born musician, Kenna, who organized the climb up Africa’s tallest peak has only slept seven or eight hours in total throughout the past five days.
To keep their energy high for the last leg of the strenuous hike, the climbers are advised to consume between 5,000 and 10,000 calories. “We’re going to be eating, eating and eating,” says Gore.

Thursday, music artist/philanthropist Kenna lead a group that includes actors Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch and Isabel Lucas and musicians Lupe Fiasco and Santigold on the trip of a lifetime to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The ascent of the highest peak in Africa is not a casual vacation among bold-named friends, though, but part of an awareness raising trek called the “Summit on the Summit” aimed at shining a light on the global clean-water crisis.
The group will be joined by a panel of eminent scientists and thinkers who’ve been working on bringing desperately needed clean water to developing nations around the globe, and their climb will be chronicled in a 90-minute documentary slated to air March 14 at 9 p.m. on MTV.
Update to date information of their trek including individual locations, vitals, videos, etc, can be found: SummitOnTheSummit.com.

Perhaps you remember her work in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Ah yes, she was the android who mounted Shia LaBeouf and strangled him with her tongue. But seriously, Isabel Lucas has a higher purpose. The 24-year-old Australian has worked on irrigation projects in Namibia, raised money for orphanages in India, and paddled out into the Pacific Ocean to combat whaling off of Japan, where she is now wanted for interfering with global commerce. We’ll soon get to see this more soulful side of Lucas in The Pacific, an HBO mini-series about the American-Japanese conflict during World War II, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. This month she stars in Daybreakers, a futuristic thriller in which she plays human in a world taken over by vampires. After that it’s Red Dawn, a remake of the Cold War–era anti-Commie shoot-’em-up. Lucas takes her “action movie” characters every bit as seriously as the others—even when certain directors don’t. “It’s interesting,” she says, referring to Michael Bay, “when the only direction is ‘You’ve got to be more sexy!’”
